  • Turkish journalists have been engaged lately in important debates about media ethics. When is it OK to use anonymous sources? How about hidden cameras? What are journalists' responsibilities in reporting about divisive ethnic issues? If you want to find answers to the dilemmas you face as a journalist and learn how to create a code of ethics for your news organization, don’t miss this free online course on media ethics. The course, which will be conducted in Turkish, is organized by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), and will run from August 6 to September 17. Deadline: July 30.

  • If you are a radio journalist from Latin America, or if you work at a Hispanic radio station in the United States, then this is your chance to improve your skills and make your station more effective. The online course Digital Community Radio in the Americas, organized by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), will be conducted in Spanish. Deadline: July 24.

  • The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is currently offering two online courses for U.S. journalists on using multimedia tools. The courses are for Hispanic and minority journalists in the U.S., and will be conducted in English and Spanish.

    They will focus on a variety of multimedia offerings – from audio slideshows to Google mash-ups to data visualization tools. The four-week courses will have a special focus on using multimedia and digital tools to cover personal finance issues, and will start on June 28 and last until July 25. Deadline: June 24.

  • Most of us spend more than half our waking hours in the workplace, yet media devote little coverage to such an important part of our lives. If you would like to learn how to cover labor unions and strikes, or safety issues in the workplace, then this course is for you. The Arabic-language course, organized by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), will run from July 9 until August 20. Deadline: June 24.

  • Journalists from Senegal are invited to participate in a four-week online course titled “An Introduction to Investigative Journalism.” The course will be held from June 7, 2010 to July 3, 2010.

  • Persian-language journalists interested in exploring ethics issues and decision making can enroll in a free online course.

    Introduction to Ethical Decision Making is one of three online courses in Persian launched by NewsU International, a partnership partnership between the Poynter Institute and the International Center for Journalists.

    The self-directed course is designed for Persian-language journalists and other newsroom leaders who want to make sound decisions, as well as anyone interested in the ethical guidelines for fair, accurate and honest journalism.

    The self-directed course, called Five Steps to Multimedia Storytelling aims at providing participants with the skill and knowledge to produce multimedia stories.
